Q: What was it made for?
The project served as a case study to practice end-to-end GIS mapping, from field data collection to visualization.
Q: What did you accomplish?
Completed ground-truth data collection on two trails: the Ricardo Campground loop and the 11-mile Red Cliffs & Nightmare Gulch Loop. Successfully tested and utilized a Garmin eTrex 22x GPS unit for recording trail data.
Q: What skills did you learn from doing this?
I planned and executed GPS data collection in challenging terrain, applying QA/QC practices to ensure data accuracy by identifying and correcting signal noise and errors.
